Toys And Games: The New Soul Curry For Babies And Toddlers

posted on 8 May 2012

In earlier times, wooden toys were simply considered as a recreation for children, and for some mothers, they were simply a means to distract their child for some free time for themselves! However, now, since everything has become commercialized, toys and games manufacturing companies have come up with varied expert opinions stating that their products are necessary for balanced and healthy development of kids. For a child, every simulation, color, sound, touch, movement and sensation is a huge learning experience. With brightly colored dolls and battery operated remote control cars, the child learns to identify colors, objects, and even materials like glass and plastic. Besides providing fun, toys actually help a child learn the earliest lesson of coordination of his senses of vision and touch. Games, on the other hand are fodder for the mind, encouraging the kid to develop agility in thinking and planning. Also, in multi player games, the child learns the value of team work and interaction with others. It's the beginning of a new world for him.

Growing Up My Best Friend and Favorite Toy Was Mrs Beasley

posted on 13 December 2010

Mrs Beasley was a great friend and also a great toy - my favourite of all the educational toys I had. You could pull her string and her sweet almost grandmotherly voice talked to you. I must have had 10 of them - my parents would just get me a new one as the old one stopped talking. She went everywhere I did, she became popular from a sitcom called Family affair, the little girl Buffy had one. She had glasses that I could also wear, and a pretty blue dress with white polka dots on it...and blonde hair that I could brush. Even after all these years, I can still remember the one phrase she would say "once upon a time I was a little girl just like you." I'm in my 40s now and can't help but to smile as I think of my departed friend of so many years ago. I wish that there were more toys around today like her, for my own daughters. She was a great friend and a great toy!!
