My Uncle's Self Build Project Is Giving Me Ideas

My uncle is in his 50s but very hands-on when it comes to physical work. He's involved in one of those building projects - self build houses I think they're called where everything's done on a small scale level (no big builder firms involved) to build a single property. At first, it looked so daunting - just a plot of land, a few big mountains of sand and palletes of bricks. But as the weeks and months unfolded, the house took shape. My uncle hire good workers to work on the construction. When it was completed, they asked me to slam the front door of the propery (a kind of ceremony they have as a final test to the house!) - I slammed the front door, and in doing so, opened up some new ideas for myself. I want to own property eventually, but I think the way I will go about it is through a self build project.
