Managing Money And Keeping Bills Low

Managing the money in my bank account and living within my means has not been easy lately. The art of handling money - from debt management to saving - is one you can learn and get better at though. The cost of everything is going up and it's getting harder and harder to pay bills and still set some money aside for savings. One of the first things I did, years ago, was have a lump sum of money taken out of my paycheck every month, that goes directly into savings. If the money is in savings, it's less likely to be spent. Another trick, that has really helped me keep my credit card balances low, is keeping the maximum limit on my card low. Even though they may send me offers to go to a platinum card with a huge limit, I don't apply for those. I also have only one credit card. The rule for the credit card is that it should be for emergency use only, or very special occassions. Limiting how much I drive has been a big help at saving gas, and I've been washing my clothes in cold water only, to save on the natural gas bill every month. Not eating out as much is another great way to save money. You would be amazed at how much you can save by preparing meals at home. Those are just a few tips to help manage money and keep your bills low.
